Gingivitis Should Not Rule You

Gingivitis is one health condition one would not want to have.  There are times that it does not bother us so much with pain however it is slowly eating up on our gum tissues exposing more teeth than normally should.  It is referred to as non-destructive gum disease characterized by bad breath, bleeding gums, and at times inflamed gums.  This condition is treatable at its early stages and it takes as simple as an appointment to the dentist in order to determine the course of action to be taken to nurse back healthy gums.

Proper oral hygiene should be meticulously practiced to avoid having bouts with gum disease.  However there are some health conditions that could leave us at the mercy of bacteria feasting in our oral cavity.  Women are more at risk when there is fluctuation of hormones during menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.  A weakened immune system as with people with HIV/AIDS, leukemia or even anemia may be subject to gum disease.  Some medications may also leave contribute to a conducive environment for bacteria to flourish, among which are ant-hypertension drugs, cold remedies and oral contraceptives, to name a few.

Treat gum disease at the first sign of perception so it does not grow into a condition that may be irreversible.  Our dentist or oral hygienist is our best partner who will show us how to keep our oral cavity healthy.  Regular visits to oral professionals can cut our encounters with gum diseases.  Their expertise can help us a lot however we can do our share of keeping to a set of routine that will maintain cleanliness of our mouth.

Good nutrition is also another key to keeping not just our mouth health, but our overall being in general.  Eating a balanced diet keeps our system strong and creates a good defense from microbial attacks.  Supplement with vital nutrients such as but not limited to calcium, Coenzyme Q10, ascorbic acid, folic acid, and green tea.  The mentioned supplements aid in keeping bones strong, including the teeth, as well as the gum tissues.

There are many ways to treat gingivitis when it occurs and there are more ways to stay away from it if we have the discipline to keep our mouth healthy.  Oral hygiene, for one, and regular visits to the dentist should be on top of the list.  Eat up good foods and avoid those that can irritate your gums which could lead to infections.  Manage stress level to ensure strong immune system.  Taking care of yourself may need not be expensive.
